Congratulations to NIKA KING for receiving the Social Impact Award at our 2022 Be Great! Humanitarian Awards!

Nika is an American actress and comedian. She is best known for her role as Leslie Bennett on the 16-time EMMY-nominated HBO television series Euphoria (2019–present). 

After speaking at the 2021 Better Together: Mental Health Storytelling Summit produced by MTV Entertainment Group, King was compelled to establish Rose of Sharon, a 501 (c) 3 based in South Los Angeles, CA. The mission of the nonprofit is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families from underserved and marginalized communities by compassionately serving their mental health and wellness.

Nita has been known to volunteer on skid row in LA and is focused on helping to improve the quality of life for individuals and families from underserved and marginalized communities by compassionately serving their overall wellness.  It is from King’s personal experiences with family members that Rose of Sharon was birthed. Having watched family members navigate through addictions and mental health challenges, King experienced all the dynamics associated with being in her position.  

“For the Rose of Sharon, we’re providing cooking classes in person or over zoom. Families will learn how to make healthy meals on a budget and then I have the mental health box which has different things inside to help people with anxiety depression etc.” - Nika King
